RIP: Limerick deaths and funeral details, Sunday, October 5

Deaths in Limerick: Tuesday, March 12, 2024

The death has occurred of Mary (Sr. Catherine) Tansey, Daughter of Charity of St Vincent de Paul, late of Ballitore Co. Kildare, also St Vincent’s Lisnagry Co. Limerick and Nazareth House, Nursing Home, Malahide Road, Dublin 3. 

On the 4th October 2025, peacefully in the loving care of the sisters and staff of Nazareth House Nursing Home Malahide Road Dublin 3. 

Predeceased by her Parents Eugene and Eileen Tansey, brothers John and Owen her sister Evelyn, and niece Aoife Tansey. Deeply regretted by her brother-in-law Christy Montague, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnephews and great grandnieces, the Community of the Daughters of Charity, cousins, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing at St Catherine’s Provincial House Blackrock (A94P2K3) on Monday afternoon from 3 pm with prayers at 5pm. Funeral Mass at 10.30 am Tuesday the 7th October 2025 in St Catherine’s which may be viewed on the following link https://mcn.live/Cameras/st-catherines-provincial-house

Burial afterwards to Deans Grange Cemetery.

The death has occurred of Richard Sheehy, Beechwood Avenue, Newcastlewest and formerly of Reens West, Ardagh, Co. Limerick.

Richard passed away peacefully, at home in the loving presence of his devoted wife Alice and his daughters Maria and Éilís on October 4th 2025.

Richard is predeceased by his parents Patrick and Bridget (née Hartnett) and his infant twin brother Edward.

Richard will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loving wife Alice, his daughters Maria and Éilís, brothers Willie, Patsy and Michael, his sisters Bridie (McAuliffe), Mary (Murphy) and Geraldine, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Rest in Peace.

Richard will repose at Reidy’s Funeral Home, Newcastlewest, on this Monday evening (October 6th) from 6pm until 7:30pm. 

Richard's Funeral Cortege will depart Beechwood Avenue at 10:30am to arrive at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Newcastlewest for Requiem Mass at 11:30am. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Newcastlewest.

Family flowers only. Donations if desired to Milford Hospice or The Irish Cancer Society Night Nurses.

The death has occurred of John Manning, Woodfield, Newcastle West Co. Limerick.

Passed away suddenly but peacefully at his home on Friday 3rd of October 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

John is survived by his devoted loving wife Helen (nèe McCarthy), sons Shane, Patrick and Mark, daughter in law Elaine, granddaughters Shauna and Alicia, sisters Ann, Nora, Johanna and Philomena, brothers in law, sister in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and many close friends from his time spent in Kerry.

Reposing at St. Senan's Church Shanagolden (V94 T882) this Tuesday evening 7th October from 5pm to 7pm.

Requiem Mass on Wednesday 8th October at 12 noon and can be viewed online by clicking on the link here followed by cremation in Shannon Crematorium (V14 PV30) at 3pm.

House strictly private to immediate family only on Wednesday morning please.

The death has occurred of Mary Hogan née Reddan, Oakview Drive, Ballinacurra, Limerick and late of Roberts Pharmacy, O’ Connell Street and President Ballinacurra Gaels.

October 4th 2025, peacefully at Milford Care Centre. Beloved wife of the late Noel. Dearly loved mother of Ger and Dermot. 

Mary will be sadly missed by Dermot’s partner Noreen, her brother John, sisters Eileen and Ann, sister-in-law Kitty, brothers-in-law Peadar and Brendan, nephew, nieces, extended family and her many friends. Predeceased by her brothers Liam and Joe and sister Margaret.

May she Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Tuesday 7th October from 5.30pm to 7pm. Requiem Mass on Wednesday 8th October at 11am with burial afterwards in Meanus Cemetery.

The death has occurred of Bridget (Bridie) Duggan (nèe Guilfoyle), late of Craggs, Barrigone, Askeaton, Co. Limerick.

Passed away on 4th October after a short illness in University Hospital Limerick at the age of 83 years.

Predeceased by her parents, brothers and sisters.

Survived by her loving family, husband Chris, son Christopher, daughter Bridget, grandchildren Rebecca, Melissa, Noreen, Louise and Maurice, great grandchildren Lucy & Seàn, relatives and friends.

Reposing at St. Senan's Church Shanagolden (V94 T882) this Wednesday evening 8th October from 5pm to 6.30pm. Requiem Mass on Thursday 9th October at 12 noon in Shanagolden Church followed by burial afterwards in Rheilig Mhuire Graveyard Askeaton.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired to Dementia Ireland and Stroke Unit UHL.
