Ireland calls up premier league defender for qualifiers

Nottingham Forest defender Andrew Omobamidele has been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for the France and Netherlands UEFA EURO 2024 qualifiers. 

The defender signed for for the Premier League side in a deal reported to be worth in the region of £20 million just before the end of the transfer window. 

The Kildare native moved from Championship side, Norwich. 

The Ireland squad are set to report into camp on Sunday ahead of the France qualifier on Thursday, September 7 and the Netherlands fixture at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday, September 10. 

The 21-year old centre-back will now link up with the squad later today. 

The FAI confirmed that all other players named in the squad on Thursday will report as planned.
