It is unlikely that the Girls in Green will have a large number of supporters in the Sydney Football Stadium for their World Cup opener against co-hosts Australia after the FAI received just 4% of the ticket allocation, the Independent has reported.
The Irish allocation adds up to 1,700 tickets for the 42,500-capacity stadium which will host the Group B encounter on July 20.
Ireland defender Louise Quinn was disappointed with the outcome as she took to social media to say: "Very unfair to our Irish supporters and to us, for such a small allocation. Hoping they can dig out more tickets to create an unbelievable atmosphere!"
