ST MUNCHIN’S College face the first of two Munster Schools Cup finals on Wednesday afternoon as they travel to Virgin Media Park to take on a highly-rated Presentation Brothers College side.

This 2026 Pinergy Munster Senior Schools Cup final takes place seven days before the Junior decider which will also see Munchin’s go Leeside, where they meet Christian Brothers College, Cork.

Senior opponents PBC had a hugely impressive 54-0 win in their semi-final against their old rivals CBC.

This result has the famous Cork nursery labelled favourites for this clash - but St Munchin’s coach Andrew O’Byrne doesn’t mind the ‘underdogs’ tag.

“We are just going to focus on looking after ourselves,” he said. “We will do our video analysis like we do for every opponent so we will continue to prepare the same we have all year.”

The school won three Senior Schools Cups in five years between 2002 and 2006 - with all three final victories coming against Wednesday’s opponents.

“I’m sure some of the lads are aware of the history,” O’Byrne said, “but we don’t dwell on it.

“We are staying on the present, we are focusing on the present.”

The Junior Cup final, also at Virgin Media Park, Cork is on March 25 at 1.30pm.
