It was a cagey opening quarter of an hour at Liam Fitzgerald Park with little happening for either team, perhaps both teams acutely aware of what was at stake given last week's entertaining draw at Thomond Park.

The first try of the game came Crescent's way after 20 minutes when Harry O'Halloran touched down to give his side a 5-0 lead and with Alan Cleary dispatching the conversion effortlessly from the sideline, it gave Crescent a 7-0 lead.

Munchin's thought they had levelled proceedings on the half hour mark when Thomas O'Brien's brilliant ball over the top found the onrushing Evan Quin but Quin was adjudged to have knocked the ball forward by referee Michael Reddy when touching down.

Munchin's did level proceedings just before the break when Conor Dillon powered over the line after consistent Munchin's pressure. Oisín Madden converted to ensure the sides would go in level at the break.

The first score of the second half came the way of St Munchin's when Dan foley found a gap and touched down. Madden converted and gave Munchin's a seven point lead after 45 minutes.

Crescent hit back with a penalty minutes later through Cleary but Munchin's would hold firm for the remaining 20 minutes to secure a precious 14-10 win over their Limerick rivals,
