Munster Rugby player selected on World Rugby's Dream Team of the Year

MUNSTER Rugby and Ireland second-row Tadhg Beirne was included on the World Rugby Men's 15s Team of the Year which was unveiled at the World Rugby Awards in Monaco on Sunday night. 

On a night to remember in the iconic Salle des Étoiles, a ceremony under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco saw the greats of the game past and present and the rugby family celebrate the outstanding achievers of the year. 

Beirne was one of four Irish players selected in the Dream Team of the Year along with international team mates, World Player of the Year Josh van der Flier, Johnny Sexton and Tadhg Furlong.

Former Munster centre Damian de Allende, of South Africa, was another player to make the coveted selected. 

World Rugby Player of the Year Josh van Der Flier becomes the third Irishman to win the award, following Keith Wood in 2001 and Johnny Sexton in 2018.

The 29-year-old edged out Johnny Sexton, France scrum-half Antoine Dupont and South Africa centre Lukhanyo Am to claim the top men's prize in Monaco.

Meanwhile, Ireland's Terry Kennedy was named Men's 7s Player of the Year at the prestigious awards event.
