RICHMOND RFC hosted the U14 Tom Cusack Memorial Cup at St Munchin's College rugby grounds on Sunday last.
The game, which has been played for the best part of 20 years, featured Richmond RFC against Killaloe/Ballina in an U14 Girls fixture.
The late Tom Cusack was synonymous with Richmond RFC, involved in club activities from under-age right through to adult level, but was especially active with the club's under-age section.
He served as Richmond RFC Club President and Secretary on several occasions over the years and was also coach for underage teams from U6s to U18 level.
He was involved in the Munster Branch youths side many years ago as well.
Tom Cusack worked at Crescent College Comprehensive (CCC) for more than 30 years, so he also had a big interest in schools' rugby also.
The year after Tom's passing, Richmond RFC began the Memorial Cup competition to honour him in 2004 with the Crescent College Junior Cup side side taking on Richmond U14s.
While the Cup has traditionally been played for by two boys' U14 sides, it changed to a girls' fixture this year to co-incide with Tom Cusack's grand-daughter Mia playing with the Richmond U14 team.
Photographer Brendan Gleeson captured all the colour and excitement from the day for the Limerick Leader.
