SPECTATORS braved the persistent rain to watch the Pinergy Munster Schools Senior Cup Group A fixture between St Munchin's College and Rockwell College in Corbally on Wednesday.
In testing conditions, St Munchin's got the better better of the Tipperary side scoring five tries to Rockwell's three, coming away with a 29-20 victory in the first game of the round robin campaign.
In the other fixture in Group A, Castletroy College suffered an opening defeat to amalgamation side Munster CSP, 24-7, in Annacotty on Wednesday evening.
Elsewhere Crescent College Comprehensive, had a convincing 20-7 victory over Bandon Grammar in West Cork.
Crescent College ran in two tries to seal their opening round win.
Meanwhile, also in Group B, Ardscoil Ris lost out 17-43 to CBC, of Cork, at Lansdowne.
The next round of fixtures for both groups in the Munster Schools Senior Cup will take place the week starting October, 23.
