In Pictures: Munster Rugby players and fans celebrate stunning URC final win

MUNSTER Rugby players and supporters are savouring the province's URC Grand Final win over the Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday evening.

Munster claimed their first silverware in 12 years when easing past their South African rivals 19-14 in front of a sell-out attendance of more than 55,000 at DHL Stadium.

Afterwards Munster Rugby head coach Graham Rowntree said the side had won the title the tough way.

Rowntree told TG4: “It's a bit surreal. Is this happening? Is this really happening? It is.

“We have done it the hard way as well, six games away from home. Come here to a venue like this, up against the current champions, we done it tough.

“This is for the whole province, people at the offices in Cork, Musgarve, people at the offices at Thomond (Park), our fans, people at home, our kids watching us. It's for everyone.

“It has not been an easy year. We lost a great one with Tom Tierney, great coach, an emotional year. This is for the family of Tom's, it's for everyone.

“We changed a lot, we didn't have a great start to the season, but we were getting better in games, we were adapting our training, we are fit, we are hardened here. It is all coming out now."
