Munster Junior League winners Richmond are seeking to regain their All-Ireland League status
A CRUCIAL couple of weekends for Limerick clubs in the All-Ireland League kicks-offs this Saturday.
Munster Junior League champions Richmond will look to regain their All-Ireland League status when facing Munster rivals Midleton in their All-Ireland League Men’s Division 2C Promotion/Relegation play-off final at Towns Park. The game will have a 2.30pm kick-off.
Richmond lost out to Clogher Valley in the final of the AIL promotion round robin series at Coolmine earlier this month.
However, the Limerick side earned their place in this Saturday's play-off game after defeating Creggs in their All-Ireland League round robin series semi-final.
Richmond were crowned Munster Junior League champions with one game to spare last month following theur 32-26 win over Thomond in their derby derby clash at Liam Fitzgerald Park.
Richmond were crowned champions for the fifth time after their last-minute converted try proved crucial in their victory.
Meanwhile, thre senior Limerick clubs face crucial All-Ireland League play-off fixtures on Saturday week, May 6 at 2.30pm.
In the Division 1A Promotion/Relegation play-off final, Shannon will be looking to retain their Division 1A status when hosting Highfield at Thomond Park.
Shannon overcame Old Wesley's challenge at Thomond Park's back pitch on Saturday last to win 24-6 in their relegation/promotion play-off semi-final.
Also on May 6, in the Division 2A Promotion/Relegation play-off final UL-Bohemian will be hoping to extend their run in the division when hosting Dungannon at Annacotty also at 2:30pm.
UL-Bohs tasted victory in their Division 2A play-off semi-final last weekend with Sligo in Annacotty as Harry Byrne's late penalty saw the Red, Red Robins to a 16-14 victory.
Meanwhile, Bruff will be hoping to secure promotion to Division 2B for next season when travelling to Holmpatrick to face Skerries in the Energia All-Ireland League Men’s Division 2B Promotion play-off final.
Bruff defeated Galwegian 24-12 at Crowley Park in their 2B promotion semi-final on Saturday to advance to the meeting with Skerries on Saturday week.
Also on Saturday last, Young Munster's hopes of securing a place in this season's All-Ireland League Division 1A final were ended following their 13-12 semi-final defeat to Clontarf at Castle Avenue. 'Tarf face Terenure College in the final.
