Limerick's Neville one of three female referees that are set to make history

Limerick's Joy Neville to make history in November

Limerick rugby referee Joy Neville

HISTORY will be made this weekend in the United Rugby Championship as three women will take charge of games in a single round for the very first time.

Limerick's own Joy Neville, Scotland's Hollie Davidson and South Africa's Aimee Barrett-Theron are the women creating history in their respective games.

Davidson is to officiate in Munster's game with the Emirates Lions in Musgrave Park at 7:35pm on Friday evening, while Barrett-Theron has the whistle for Edinburgh v Zebre in the Scottish capital on Saturday afternoon. Neville is in the middle on Saturday evening in Cardiff for the Welsh derby between the Blues and Scarlets at 5:15.

The Limerick woman is no stranger to creating history, with one of many strings to her refereeing bow coming in February 2018 when she became the first female to take charge of a Pro14 game.
