The lands at Dromdarrig, Mungret near Mungret College
WORK has commenced at the Dromdarrig housing site in Mungret, marking the first step in the delivery of 181 new affordable homes for the area.
Limerick City and County Council, in partnership with the Land Development Agency, is now progressing the development, with the Council providing expertise and resources to deliver the homes. Main construction works are scheduled to begin in April.
The current vegetation clearance works are being undertaken in advance of bird nesting season, which begins in March.
The areas identified for clearance were approved as part of the site’s planning permission and are informed by a detailed arborist report.

Mature vegetation including the established tree line running east-west through the site will be retained. There will be no impact on the boundary with Mungret Woods.
Cllr Daniel Butler welcomed the commencement of works in Mungret, saying: “I have been committed to this site delivering affordable homes from the very beginning... I am pleased to see it now progressing to construction stage.”
A further update on the overall construction programme including details on traffic management, working hours and a dedicated communications channel will issue in March.
