The Shannon House has been derelict since 2018
A ONCE-popular hostelry in the estuary village of Foynes looks set to be turned into a boutique hotel.
The Shannon House has been derelict since early 2018 and was acquired by Limerick City and County Council this January.
It is now confirmed that the former pub, restaurant and guesthouse has been purchased by The Shannon House Foynes Unlimited Company for €195,000.
It is the intention of the purchasers to transform the two-storey vacant property, located in Ballynacragga North, Foynes, into a “boutique hotel and pub-restaurant”.
The sale of the property, situated on the main street of the village, will come before councillors at the September monthly meeting of Limerick Council on Monday, September 23.

The Shannon House was advertised as having three bars, a substantial industrial kitchen, a large function room which can cater for 150 people, nine bedrooms and a one-room apartment.
The property was then advertised for sale by auction on July 5 and August 31, to which there were 11 bids made in total.
