Closure from February 2 to August 2027 allows redevelopment of William Street site, with pedestrian access maintained

Lane in Limerick to close for major construction for 18 months

A SECTION of Todds Bow Lane in Limerick city is set to close to traffic and parking from February as part of major construction and renovation works on William Street.
Limerick City and County Council has issued notice of its intention to close Todds Bow from its junction with Cruises Street to its junction with William Street from Monday, February 2, 2026, until Monday, August 1, 2027.
The closure is required to facilitate construction and refurbishment works at No. 6 William Street, formerly Shoe Zone, where Custy Construction Ltd will be developing a retail unit with residential apartments above.

While the closure will remain in place for the duration of the project, pedestrian access to Cruises Street will be maintained at all times, with members of the public advised to use Chapel Street or O’Connell Street access points.
The lower section of Todds Bow onto Denmark Street will not be affected. Access to existing businesses and yards on Todds Bow will be maintained throughout the works, and emergency service access on Cruises Street will remain available at all times.
Automated bollards will allow delivery access between 6am and 11am daily. A portion of the taxi stand on William Street will also be temporarily set aside to facilitate construction deliveries, with Sarsfield Street available as an alternative
