LIMERICK County TD Richard O’Donoghue has apologised to his wife, Kay for missing Valentine’s Day while speaking in the Dáil.

While speaking, the now Independent Ireland TD wished everyone in the chambers a happy Valentine’s Day before apologising to his wife.

He then suggested that he and Ms O'Donoghue might go for a “bite to eat” later in the week.

Mr O'Donoghue already got a Valentine's present this week with Deputy Michael Fitzmaurice joining Independent Ireland, a party co-founded by the Limerick TD.

General secretary of Independent Ireland, Mr O’Donoghue said: “We set-up Independent Ireland to build a coalition of people and politicians who genuinely want to address the real-world issues facing ordinary people across this nation.

"When it comes to building a party rooted in common sense, I don't think we could have looked for a better partner than Michael Fitz.

“Fitz’s dedication, drive and determination come second only to his common sense approach to policy and priorities.

“We have a job of work ahead of ourselves over the coming months and years to build a party not just for the next election but for future generations,” he added.
