The Limerick Strand Hotel will play host to the event
RESIDENTS of Limerick and its surrounds are being invited to take part in a public consultation event at the Limerick Strand Hotel next Wednesday, April 21.
Between 3pm and 6.30pm, staff from the Southern Regional Assembly will be in Limerick to hear people's views on how they think the area should develop.
It comes as a review begins of both the Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy (RSES), and the Metropolitan Area strategic Plan for Limerick (MASP).
In simple terms, The RSES is a long-term roadmap, stretching out between 10 and 20 years.

It decides where growth should happen across multiple counties, linking things like jobs, housing, transport and the environment.
MASP, meanwhile, is a like a 'zoomed-in' version of this, just for Limerick city and its urban surrounds.
It zones in on where new housing should go, improvements to public transport, plus jobs and business zones.
“This review is a once‑in‑six‑years opportunity for people in Limerick and across the southern region to shape how our communities develop,” said David Kelly, director of the Southern Regional Assembly.
“We encourage everyone to come along, share their ideas, and help us build a sustainable and thriving region.”
The Assembly is seeking views on key questions, including how we plan for the homes, services and amenities our communities need, building energy independence, and prioritising climate action and environmental protection among other things.
To support public engagement, four Issues Papers, including the Limerick Shannon Metropolitan Area Strategic Plan Issues Paper, are now available, by clicking here
Hard copies can also be obtained at the planning counter of Limerick City and County Council in Dooradoyle, next to the Crescent Shopping Centre.
The public can share their views between March 26, and 5pm on May 22 online through: consult.southernassembly.ie
