The proposed development will see seven new homes built on the site in Broadford
PLANNING permission is being sought for the demolition of a vacant petrol station in Limerick and the development of seven homes there.
The planning application was lodged by Broadford Voluntary Housing Association in January 2024.
If approved, a two-storey vacant petrol station, commercial premises and vehicle maintenance building located at Main Street, in the village of Broadford, will be demolished.
In their place, the applicant proposed the construction of seven new homes, four two-storey two-bedroom terraced dwellings and three single-storey one-bedroom terraced dwellings, including works to the site boundaries and ancillary site works.
The project also includes three on-street car parking spaces along Curraghmore with two bicycle parking spaces located to the rear of each house and an additional two spaces for visitors incorporated into the design of the social space.
The planning application specifies that a number of features will be included, such as shared social spaces. In addition, according to the planning permission, Broadford Voluntary Housing Committee and Broadford Tidy Towns Committee will collaborate on the planting and maintenance of this linear park upon completion of the housing units.
