CROOM Community Development Association (CCDA) held their annual Easter Egg Hunt in Croom Town Park on Good Friday.

Patricia Ryan CEO of CCDA commented that “despite bad weather expected on the day in previous years, we have had to battle easter eggs melting in the bright sunshine. The weather wasn’t with us this year but 200 children and their parents braved the rain to join us for our Egg Hunt.”

Families ran around the park where they had participated in various games, finding an egg at the end of each game. Moms and Dads were challenged to compete in the egg and spoon race with their children.

Many of the older children and their siblings took off after their hunt to search for the golden egg and there were six winners, but very many more who participated in the search across the park for the well hidden golden eggs.

Maureen Curtin who attended with her granddaughters Rowan and Willow noted that those working on the day ware great, particularly given the wet conditions and had smiling faces for every child.

For some families they made more of the rain. The Biggane, Bermingham and Fitzgibbon families had a great splash session having found a very large puddle in the park, nothing was going to dampen spirits.

The Browne and Hynes families were to be found in the well at the Park having a splash fest, ensuring too that they made the most of the weather. Parents were on hand in both cases but were letting the children make the most of the weather conditions.

Patricia Ryan was very grateful to all involved in creating the event including Croom CE Scheme and the staff at the Park and Civic Centre.

She said that the Egg Hunt is only one of the events in Croom Town Park, in the coming weeks Maigue Rivers Trust will hold events in the Park and Albert Nolan will give a Moth and Bat Walk in the Park on the evening of May 16.

The rain didn’t dampen spirits in Croom and there were lots of smiling faces and little
hands clinging tightly to easter eggs on their way home.
