LIMERICK'S Martina McMahon has won the World small ball final. McMahon claimed the small ball open singles division after defeating USA's Myohwa Hwee.
The small ball game is usually played in America and mainly played in New York. The big ball form of wallball is what most participants are taking part in this week.
Wallball is the fastest-growing version of the sport of handball with a significant presence in mainland Europe and the UK as well as in the United States, where there are over 2,000 public courts in New York alone.
McMahon is back in action in the big ball open singles and the Limerick native is expecting to be competing for silverware in this competition.
The Croagh Kilfinny native is the reigning Ball Wall World Singles elite champion.
The Handball World Championships will take place in one central venue, with the provision of nine newly-constructed courts at the UL Arena from August 18 until August 23.
