Five Limerick FC players on team of the season

LIMERICK FC dominated the Airtricity League Division 1 team of the season, which was announced by the PFAI on Tuesday afternoon.

Limerick FC, who were crowned league champions earlier this month, have five players on the team.

Captain Pat Purcell is joined by defensive partner Shane Treacy, midfield duo Joe Gamble and Stephen Bradley, and striker Rory Gaffney.

Second-placed Waterford Utd were honoured with three selections - goalkeeper Pakie Holden, midfielder Gary Dempsey and striker Sean Maguire, the league’s top scorer.

Longford duo Noel Haverty and Keith Gillespie earn nods for their role in helping Town to the promotion play-offs while Athlone defender Brian McCarthy is the only player from a club outside the top three to make the final cut.
