Man arrested after crash near Belfast police station

A man has been arrested following a crash close to a Belfast police station.

The incident sparked a security alert and a number of homes near Castlereagh station were evacuated following the collision, which involved one vehicle, in the early hours of Monday.

Army bomb experts examined the vehicle but nothing untoward was found, a PSNI spokesman said.

Cordons in the area were lifted by early afternoon on Monday.

A police spokesman said one man was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including criminal damage and driving while unfit.
