LIMERICK hurling star Kyle Hayes enjoyed a pre Croke Park boost over the weekend as he gained his first harness race victory with Someone’s Fantasy owned by C&H syndicate and trained by Jamie Cross.
The Irish Harness Racing Association congratulated the Kildimo-Pallaskenry clubman and Limerick hurling star Hayes on his first win at the George Deane Memorial Day in Dunmanway in west Cork in a social media post.
This harness racing win for Hayes comes a week out from the Limerick hurlers' big All-Ireland senior hurling hurling championship clash with Cork this Sunday at Croke Park, 4pm.
If Limerick are successful next weekend, the Shannonsiders will then bid to become the first team ever to win five All-Ireland senior hurling titles in a row in the July 21 final.
The star half-back made his harness racing debut following Limerick's 2023 All-Ireland hurling final against Kilkenny. He drove Newtown Shadow on that occasion. Kyle is a shared owner of the horse Newtown Shadow with Jamie Hurley, Reenascreena.
