Coláiste Mhuire: hosts an Art Class for complete beginners. This class will provide you with an Introduction to Drawing, Painting, Mosaics and varied crafts. Ballysteen comhaltas : Your local Comhaltas is enrolling for the year 2013/14 with classes starting Saturday, September 28, at 9.30. There are beginners, intermediate and advanced classes. Askeaton swim club: The club AGM will be held on Monday, September 30, at 8pm in the community hall. An adult representative of each swimmer is expected to attend. Askeaton Apostolic Society: Raffle in aid of the foreign missions. First prize is €50, second prize is a wall clock, third prize is a pair of cushions, fourth prize is a soft toy, fifth prize is a set of glasses, sixth prize is 10 lottery tickets and seventh prize is €20. Lines are €1 and are available from the post office and the Ternie Moran’s Shop, Church Street. Draw will be held on Mission Sunday, October 20, in the community hall, at 3pm.
Line dancing: Line dancing classes start in Kilcornan community hall on Monday, September 9, between 7pm and 8pm. Each class is €7. All dancers are welcome.
Fundraiser for the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation: On Sunday, September 15, at 2pm. Registration is from 12 noon at the community hall. Starts with 5km run/walk through the town, followed by a fun day at the hall to include refreshments, BBQ and the disco with DJ Gary S. This is a family run Day Out for all age groups, while helping to support this vital care service for cancer sufferers and their families. If you can’t take part in the fun run/walk, come to the community hall at 2.30pm, have some refreshments, meet friends and neighbours and you can, if you wish, contribute to the charity. Registration forms available on the day online, at www.facebook.com/localaskeaton, or at the Askeaton Leisure Centre.
Bake for charity: In conjunction with the Fun Day and Fun Run, refreshments will be available at the hall, and if you would like to donate some buns or scones, it would be greatly appreciated. The funds are being raised for the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation, which is based at the University Hospital Limerick, and provides support and care for cancer sufferers.
