THE LATE JOHN MULLINS: The death occurred on December 31 at the Bon Seccours Hospital Cork of John Mullins, ‘Sunmount’ Brigown. The late John a member of the farming community was very well known locally. There was a large and represented attendance at the removal on Thursday evening from O’Brien’s Funeral Home Mitchesltown to the local Parish Church and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Friday. Interment took place to the adjoining cemetery. To his wife Breda (Nee Hennessy) daughters Alice, Jill, sons in law, Michael Walsh, Pat Flynn, grandchildren Simon, Kieran, Paul, sisters Mary (Murphy) and Sr. Breeda, brother in law Tom, nephews, relatives neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
COMPUTER CLASSES: There will be a free, basic Introductory Computer Course starting at Mitchelstown Library. It will start on Tuesday January 21st and will run for 16 weeks. The course will comprise of small classes that are open to all. Suitable for computer beginners. Call to the Library or call Edel 087 -3940145.
QUIT SMOKING: The HSE will organise a 6 week Stop smoking support group at the Living Health Centre, Mitchelstown on Wednesday January 15 from 12md to 1pm.
The course can be accessed, free of charge by any member of the public wanting support to quit. While the ultimate goal of the course is to eventually be smoke free, the emphasis throughout is on the process of quitting, and moving from one stage to the next to eventually becoming a non smoker. HEALTHY WALKING: Healthy walks take place in Mitchelstown every Tuesday night starting at John Mandeville New Square at 7pm covering a choice of 3 km and 5 km. routes. A good aerobic walk for 30 minutes will enhance physical and mental well being. Join in with a good bunch in the Walking club. It’s all free in God’s fresh air. Mitchelstown Forum is promoting the Healthy Town Project.

MITCHELSTOWN GAA: It has been confirmed that Billy Morgan will act as an assistant to selectors Michael Beston and Joe O’ Sullivan for 2014. They meet Kildorrery in Co IFC.
BALLYGIBLIN GAA: Ballygiblin GAA Club held a social in the Ramble Inn on Sunday night last. The Junior B hurlers who won the championship along with the winners of the Puc Fada received their presentations. John O’Donnell Board Chairman was the special guest and made the presentations. A great night was had by all.
GALTEE GAELS GAA AGM: Galtee Gaels GAA held their AGM on Thursday night last in the dressing rooms in Kilbehenny. Chairman Pat English presided. He welcomed the large attendance and paid tribute to all involved in a very successful season. Pat had served as Chairman since 1996 to 2013 but did not seek re election for the coming season. Many tributes were paid to him for his dedicated work as Chairman over these years. The Secretary Sean O’Donovan and Treasurer Tom Kearney both presented very detailed reports which showed the club to be in a very strong position both on and off the field. Election of Officers 2014.
