Marian Shrine 25th Anniversary: Mass was celebrated at the Marian Shrine in Broadford on Thursday morning last the Feast of the Assumption to mark the 25th Anniversary of the blessing of Our Lady’s statue which is situated across the road from Our Lady of the Snows church. With the morning been overcast the decision to have the Mass celebrated in the forecourt of the Shrine was given the go-ahead and a gazebo was erected over the alter area and seating was provided for the congregation. Canon S. Ambrose our former P.P. celebrated the mass (incidentally Canon Ambrose blessed the Statue of Our Lady when it was erected in 1988) Seamus O’Suilleabháin read the readings and Kitty Duggan and Mairéad Hogan were the Eucharistic Ministers and the singing of a number of hymn’s dedicated to the Blessed Virgin was sung by the congregation. Thankfully the rain held off for most of the ceremonies and afterwards everyone retired to the Community Centre where a lovely tea and refreshments were provided by the Community Council who also wishes to thank everybody who helped out to make the event a joyous one, those who erected and provided the gazebo, all who provided the refreshments and to crown the occasion a very informative brochure was produced and handed out before Mass.
