Met Éireann's weather forecast for Ireland on the lead up to Christmas
Christmas Day is fast approaching and Met Eireann has updated it's Christmas weather forecast ahead of the busy festive period.
Weather conditions won't be extreme this Christmas, with no snow, heavy rain or extreme temperatures on the cards for us this time around.
Instead, the week ahead is set to be mild and dry for the most part starting with a little bit of patchy rain and drizzle on Monday December 22 and it will also be cloudy.
Overnight mist and fog will be slow to clear, lingering for much of the day in places, mainly in the west and midlands and it will become drier across much of the eastern half of the country through the afternoon, with a few bright or sunny spells developing.
The fog will also clear up further to the west later in the day, with highest temperatures of 6 to 11 degrees.
On Tuesday 23rd December, it's looking like another mostly cloudy day and largely dry with just some patchy light rain and drizzle at times.
Overnight mist and fog will be slow to clear in the morning with limited bright spells developing through the day. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in light northeasterly breezes.

High pressure is building bringing drier and more settled weather.
Christmas Eve, Wednesday December 24, will be cloudy and dry for most parts of the country with a few light showers or spots of drizzle, and just limited bright spells developing.
Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with light to moderate easterly winds, fresh at times near exposed coasts.
Lowest temperatures of -1 to +4 degrees in light, occasionally moderate, easterly breezes with frost likely to form that night.
Christmas Day is looking to be dry for most with sunny spells and just a few spots of light rain and drizzle possible. Highest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees with light to moderate easterly breezes, fresher at times near eastern and southern coasts.
St. Stephen's Day will be another largely dry day with variable amounts of cloud and sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees with light, occasionally moderate, northeasterly breezes.
