Man critically ill following assault in Co Tipperary

A man is critically ill in hospital following a serious assault in Co Tipperary.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened on Abbey Street and Barrack Street in Cahir shortly after 1.40am on Saturday.

They said a man, who is aged in his 20s, was treated by emergency services for serious injuries before being taken and to Tipperary University Hospital.

“The male remains in critical condition,” gardai said in a statement.

“Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.

“Any persons who were in the vicinity of Abbey Street and Barrack Street, Cahir between 1.15am and 2am on Saturday 20th December and who may have video footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardai.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cahir Garda Station on 052 744 5630, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
