RIP: Pedestrian (60s) dies in road traffic collision involving lorry in Monaghan

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

A man in his 60s has died following a road traffic collision involving a lorry in Monaghan on Saturday morning. 

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision on Old Cross Square in Monaghan shortly after 10:15am. 

The male pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

A Garda spokesperson said: "The scene of the collision was examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since reopened.

The coroner was notified the male's body has since been removed to Monaghan mortuary where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward and contact them immediately.
 
Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling in the area of Old Cross Square, Monaghan between 10:00am and 10:30am are being asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
