Pensioner killed in Limerick car crash

A woman aged in her 70s has died in a car crash in Co Limerick.

The incident took place on the Abington Road, Murroe, at around 4.10pm on Thursday.

The woman, who was driving the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination will take place at University Hospital Limerick.

No other injuries were reported.

The road has been closed pending a technical examination by forensic collision investigators, and local diversions are in place.

An appeal has been issued for witnesses and those with camera footage related to the collision to come forward.
