A 12-year-old girl has sadly died after getting into difficulty while swimming in the River Suir in Newcastle, County Tipperary on Friday evening.
It is believed the young girl was with a group of friends when she got into difficulty at the popular swimming spot at around 4:20pm.
A large multi-operation rescue mission was launched after the group of friends raised the alarm.

Gardaí, National Ambulance Service personnel, firefighters and the Irish Coast Guard Rescue helicopter 117 all attended the scene.
In a statement, Gardaí said that the girl was airlifted by Rescue 117 to Cork University Hospital "in a serious condition." However, she sadly since passed away.
They added that a file will be prepared for the Coroner's Court and that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
As the local community come to terms with the tragic events of Friday evening, local parish priest Father Michael Toomey has organised a prayer service in Newcastle Church for 12pm on Saturday for all those impacted.
