'I am heartbroken' - Irish mother in tribute as son (21) is found dead in Thailand
A Clare mother has said she is "heartbroken" after her son, 21-year-old Robby Kinlan, was found dead on a popular tourist island in Thailand.
The young diver was found dead in his hotel on the island of Ko Tao which is a popular spot for divers. Friends of Robby have set up a GoFundMe page to help with the repatriation of his body while his mother Tracy King at home in Clare paid tribute.
"RIP to my precious son Robby. He is resting in this beautiful Temple in Koh Tao Thailand before his removal back to Ireland. I am heartbroken and overwhelmed and so very grateful for all the kindness being shown to us at this time. Thanks to all friends and family. Thanks especially to the Guziuk family at Dive Academy on Inis Mor," she said.
Robby's friend Aleksandra Guziuk set up the GoFundMe page on behalf of Robby's family and also paid a stunning tribute.
"It breaks our hearts to share the devastating news of the sudden passing of our dear friend Robby on January 9, 2025, in Thailand. Losing him so unexpectedly has left us all in shock and deep sorrow," the Guziuk family wrote.

"Robby wasn’t just a friend - he was the kind of person who lit up every room with his kindness and warmth. He was always the first to help others, putting their needs before his own without a second thought. In Thailand, he was surrounded by many friends and he was living his dream, spending his days doing what he loved - freediving and scuba diving in the place that made him happy.
"Now, we want to honour Robby in the best way we can by helping his mum and family. We want to give everyone the chance to say their goodbyes and celebrate the incredible person he was.
"Any support, no matter how small, would mean the world to his family during this unimaginably difficult time."
The fundraiser has already surpassed its €25,000 target with almost €40,000 raised by Monday evening, January 13.
