ALERT: Gardai issue appeal after man sustains facial injuries in 'serious assault'

Victim taken to Naas Hospital following incident close to housing estate

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a 'serious assault' which happened in a busy town in County Kildare in broad daylight.

In a statement, a spokesperson confirmed the incident occurred shortly before 12 noon on Monday on Newbridge Road, Naas near the Ardconagh Housing Estate.

According to gardai, the victim, aged in his 20s, was approached by a lone male and assaulted, sustaining facial injuries. He was subsequently taken to Naas Hospital for treatment.

A man, also aged in his 20s, who was arrested during follow-up inquires has since been charged and is due to be brought  before Naas District Court.

In a statement, the spokesperson appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are specifically appealing to those with video footage, particularly dash-cam footage from motorists traveling on Newbridge Road near the Ardconagh Housing Estate at the time, to make the footage available.
