Have you listened to The Garda Podcast yet? An Garda Síochána recently launched their very own podcast which includes interviews and behind the scenes features - ideal for anyone who loves a good crime podcast!

The podcast is available on Spotify, Youtube, Apple Podcasts and all other major platforms. There is currently 12 episodes for you to listen to, with episodes ranging from 16 to 35 minutes in length. 

The latest episode titled "Policing Ireland V England", looks at how gardaí policed the soccer match between Ireland and England at the AVIVA Stadium in September which the Garda Commissioner declared "an extraordinary event" due to the high risk nature of the fixture. 

Within this episode, people can get an insight into the detailed planning that takes place before such an event and the different units involved. Listeners will also be brought inside the control rooms in Dublin City and the Aviva Stadium.

Another episode worth listening to is "Dismantling organised crime groups in Ireland". Many people might be interested in this episode which features an interview with Detective Chief Superintendent Séamus Boland who leads the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau. 

In this interview, he discusses how the illegal drugs and organised crime landscape has changed in recent years and the importance of international collaboration when tackling this issue. Interestingly, he also talks about his own career path which led him to where he is now. 

That's not all. There is a solid list of different and very relevant topics the podcast covers, including gender-based violence and the challenges in policing Dublin.

Listeners can also find out more about the various units in An Garda Síochána and how they operate, such as the Air Support Unit, Criminal Assets Bureau and the National Cyber Crime Bureau.
