A fundraiser has been set up for a young Cork man who has become a wheelchair user after a serious car crash.
Rory Motherway, 19, suffered permanent spinal cord damage after losing consciousness while driving to a football match in Killeagh in May 2024.
He was rushed to the Mater Hospital where he underwent three vital operations and spent weeks recovering in the CUH Trauma Ward.
The incident left the young man with paraplegia, and he is now a wheelchair user.
Rory studies in MTU Cork and has been described a “talented GAA player” by his Killeagh GAA teammates.
To help him adjust to “a new way of living”, his family has set up a GoFundMe campaign, to which you can donate here.
“Rory’s family (parents Ina and Colman, brothers Barry and Dara and sister Orla) are most grateful for all the support and kindness shown by so many people since Rory’s accident and will continue to give their best love and support to Rory as he adjusts to a new way of living. Rory and his family would appreciate any support that you can give to help ensure that the family home is adapted to meet Rory’s needs,” said the organiser on the fundraiser page.
