A motorist who was allegedly caught driving while more than nine times the legal alcohol limit is facing prosecution before the courts, gardai have confirmed.
The detection, which was made on the M50 in Dublin earlier this week, has been highlighted on social media.
"Gardaí were on patrol of the M50 and saw a car being driven erratically so had the driver pull in. He had no driving licence and was driving uninsured. Oh and he was nine times over the legal drink-driving limit," read the post which has been viewed more than 80,000 times on X (formally Twitter).
A photograph of charge sheets, which was also posted on social media, shows the driver had a concentration of 82 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath - the legal limit for professional, learner and novice drivers is 9mg.

There has been considerable reaction on social media to the garda post highlighting the incident.
"Outrageous. Zero respect for others. Only jail time will sort these fellas out, wrote one user in reply to the post while another stated: "Through (sic) the book at them. And scrap their car. You did them a favour by saving their life. I bet they don't say Thank you at least."
