Car of learner impounded after gardai find them unaccompanied while driving

A Kildare learner driver saw their car seized after gardaí spotted them driving unaccompanied.

Latest technology by gardaí allow them to read registration plates to check for certifications.

This Sunday, gardaí released a photo of the car being seized, along with a statement which said: "Our Roads Policing vehicles use Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) to read licence plates to check insurance, identify stolen vehicles and more.

ANPR spotted this learner driver in Kildare driving with no accompaniment and no insurance or L Plates."

The car was impounded.
