A father of the bride was arrested over an alleged ear biting incident at his daughter’s wedding, the Leader can reveal.
A second man - a brother of the newlywed - was also arrested in connection with the altercation at a venue in Limerick in the past week.
The victim, thought to be a guest at the wedding celebration, sustained a serious ear injury with one line of enquiry being that it was bitten at the afters of the wedding.
A garda spokesperson confirmed a man in his 20s suffered “serious injuries” and was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment. The details of the ear injury is not known.
“Gardai are investigating an assault that occurred,” said the garda spokesperson.
“Two men, one aged in his 20s and the other in his 50s, were arrested at the scene and taken to a local garda station,” added the garda spokesperson.
The father and son from west Limerick have since been released, pending a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
