Gardai rush to home of Taoiseach Simon Harris after bomb threat phonecall

Gardai have rushed to the home of Taoiseach Simon Harris tonight after an ominous phonecall claiming there was a bomb at the scene, Independent.ie reports.

According to the report, a phonecall was made to the Samaritans claiming a bomb had been placed at the home of Simon Harris in Co Wicklow.

Gardaí responded to the scene and carried out a search. No device was found. The Taoiseach's wife and young children were at home at the time of the ordeal.

Gardai are continuing to investigate the incident which appears to have been a hoax.

Political figures from across the spectrum have condemned the incident.

The incident follows a recent protest by masked individuals at the home of the Taoiseach.
