The mum of Kelly Lynch, whose body was recovered in the Ulster Canal in Monaghan in March, has raised concerns about the Garda investigation into her daughter’s death.

Kelly Lynch’s body was recovered from the Ulster Canal in Monaghan on St Patrick's Day, March 17. The 23-year-old was originally from Gilford in Co Armagh.

Kelly's mum, Julieanne, raised concerns over the investigation into her daughter's death.

"My darling girl no longer has a voice, but I do. Also, An Garda Siochana and their Cavan Monaghan Garda Division have a lot to answer for. Per their continued stagnant statement, “A Family Liaison Officer was appointed at the outset of this investigation and this information has been relayed to the family of the deceased.” Then why has it been 7 weeks since we last heard/had an update from our FLO? Surely the silence is a failure of duty of care? Or is this just another case where you stick your head in the sands and wait for time to pass?," Julieanne Lynch shared on social media.

The gardai said that the preparation of an inquest file was ongoing.
