M50 reopens after serious crash causes traffic standstill in Dublin

The M50 has reopened after a serious crash halted traffic in Dublin city.

The northbound stretch of the motorway between junction seven Lucan and junction six Blanchardstown was closed for hours on Friday afternoon as emergency services respond to the incident.

Gardai said delays were expected to continue into Friday evening and asked drivers to take alternative routes where possible.

Dublin Airport warned passengers that journeys to and from the site “are taking longer than usual” and asked people to use live route planning apps.

It added on X: “As a result of the ongoing closure of the M50 and heavy traffic around Dublin, there is a shortage of taxis at the airport this afternoon.

“Passengers are advised to consider using one of the many bus routes servicing the airport.”
