Two social welfare payments set to increase as recipients in line for cash boost
Increases in some social welfare payments are on the way this year as recipients are in line for a small, but much needed, cash boost.
Those who qualify for Child Benefit, who receive a payment of €140 every month, will get an extra €10, and those in receipt of the State Pension, who currently receive approximately €277 per week, will gain an extra €12.
However, the payment increases are not expected to be announced until later this year, but Tánaiste Micheál Martin has said these updates are necessary steps to help provide for younger generations.
Changes to the Child Benefit scheme are set to come into effect from May 1 meaning it will be paid to anyone who is 18 and in full-time education, or who has a disability, up until their 19th birthday.
