Gardaí are warning people to be on the look out for Easter-themed scams.
An Garda Síochána has issued an appeal to online communities to be wary of gift offers, slashed prices and surveys which may be fronts for criminal activity.
In a post published on X (formerly Twitter), a Garda spokesperson stated, "Don’t put all your eggs in one basket this Easter. Watch out for Easter themed spam offering gifts, cut price offers or surveys, and if you intend on donating, choose a trusted or local charity."
They are urging people to be mindful of cyber security and to implement protection measures where possible.
These include installing antivirus protection, updating systems regularly, and using only known apps, as well as backing up data remotely, using biometric logins, and making payments online through secure means only.
