Investigations are underway following a second significant drugs seizure in Dublin in just two days.
As a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dog James, Revenue officers examining parcels at a premises in the capital seized 10.8 kgs of herbal cannabis on Thursday.
The illicit drugs, which have an estimated street value of €216,000, were discovered in two parcels which had originated in Portugal and which were destined for an address in County Louth.
The discovery was made 24 hours after a similar operation at the same premises which resulted in the seizure of drugs worth around €275,000.
"With the assistance of detector dog James, Revenue officers examining parcels at a premises in Dublin seized 13.5 kgs of herbal cannabis and 882 grammes of cannabis resin with an estimated value of €275,000," said a spokesperson.
According to Revenue, the illicit drugs discovered on Wednesday were also concealed in parcels which had originated from Spain and Portugal and were destined for addresses in Monaghan and Louth.
Investigations into both seizures are ongoing.
Revenue is also appealing to businesses and members of the public, who have any information regarding drug smuggling, to contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.
