Three man arrested after burglary in Westmeath

They will appear before courts in Athlone

Three man, 20s, arrested after being pursued by Gardaí in Westmeath
Three men, aged in their 20s, have been arrested after being pursued by Gardaí in Co Westmeath.
Gardaí responded to reports of a burglary at a residence in the Ballynacargy area of Westmeath on Wednesday evening, February 26.
 
The incident happened at around 5pm and a quantity of jewellery was reported stolen.
 
A vehicle which was seen leaving the scene was later observed by Gardaí who were on patrol nearby. 
 
According to a spokesperson for the gardai, a managed containment operation, involving a number of Garda units, was then put in place. A number of men left the vehicle and were pursued by Gardaí.
 
Three males, all aged in their 20s, were subsequently arrested by Gardaí.

The men have since been charged and are due to appear Athlone District Court tomorrow morning, February 28.

Investigations are ongoing.
