Three gardaí were injured in an attempted shooting, where a man in his 30's fired shots at unarmed gardaí from what was believed to be a pellet gun.
Uniformed gardaí in Longford attended at a residence in Edgeworthstown, Co Longford, this Tuesday morning, February 20, for the purposes of executing a number of court orders.
Shortly after Gardaí gained access to the property, a male aged in his 30’s discharged what is believed to be a pellet gun, on a number of occasions at the gardaí.
The male fled from the property and a search of the area was immediately conducted, supported by the garda air support unit.
Following enquiries and follow up searches, the male was subsequently located and arrested. He is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Longford area under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The three gardaí received a number of minor injuries, which were of small wounds that did not require immediate medical treatment.
Investigations are ongoing.
