Final farewell to former Taoiseach John Bruton as State Funeral takes place today

The sate funeral for former Taoiseach John Bruton will take place today (February 10) at 11am in Dunboyne, Co Meath.

Bruton passed away peacefully, 6th February 2024, in the care of The Mater Private, Dublin surrounded by his loving family.

Father Patrick O’Connor, Parish Priest of Dunboyne and Kilbride, will be chief celebrant for the Requiem Mass in the Church of Saint Peter & Saint Paul, Dunboyne.

Burial will take place in Rooske Cemetery, Dunboyne, Co. Meath. Funeral cortege is expected to arrive between 13:00pm and 13:30 approx.

A Book of Condolence is available at the Department of the Taoiseach, Government Buildings, Upper Merrion Street, Dublin 2, D02 R583.

There is an online Book of Condolence available on the Department of the Taoiseach's website.

Flags are being flown at half-mast on all Government Buildings until after the funeral.

The funeral mass can be streamed on the Parish of Dunboyne and Kilbride's streaming service

Ahead of the 11am Mass, RTÉ will begin broadcasting from the church at 10.40am on RTÉ One, RTÉ Radio 1 and internationally on the RTÉ Player.
