Tributes pour in for father of murder victim Rachel Callaly as he is laid to rest

Tributes have poured in for the father of murder victim Rachel Callaly, Jim Callaly, who was laid to rest today.

Jim died suddenly at home in Whitehall, Co Dublin, on February 1. He was buried earlier today in Fingal Cemetery.

He was the father of Rachel Callaly, the mother of two who was murdered by her husband, Joe O’Reilly in Naul, Co Dublin, twenty years ago.

Over the past two decades, Jim and his wife, Rose, campaigned to stop O’Reilly from getting parole.

Since the tragic news of Jim’s death, tributes have been pouring in.

Beloved father of the late Rachel and Ann and brother of the late Kevin and Sr. Declan.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Rose, sons Declan, Paul and Tony, daughters-in-law Denise and Denise, Tony's partner Kate, grandchildren Luke and Adam, Lauren and Sam, Dakota and Skye and Santino, brothers Tom and John, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

“Sincere condolences on the loss of your beloved husband and father. You all show such dignity throughout your difficult time when you lost your beautiful daughter. May you find strength during this sad time,” wrote someone in tribute.

Another tribute read: “Sincere sympathy to Jim's wife Rose and sons Declan, Paul & Tony on the sad passing of Jim, your beloved husband and father and to his extended family. He is now reunited with his dear daughters Rachel and Ann. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”

“Rest in peace Jim. I've so many fond childhood memories of you from Halloween weekend walking trips. Such a good natured gent. God bless,” someone paid tribute.
