Gardaí have responded to a public order incident involving an intoxicated male.
The man, in possession of what appeared to be a suspected gun, was arrested on O'Connell Street, Co Dublin, this Monday afternoon.
With crowds of people out on the streets of the capital, initial inquiries by Gardaí suggest that the alleged gun was a toy.
It has been confirmed by An Garda Síochána that he is currently being detained at a Garda station in the North city centre.
A garda spokesperson has confirmed that "enquiries are ongoing".
