Gardaí have seized a car after an unaccompanied learner driver was caught using their mobile phone, among other violations.

The Naas Roads Policing Unit took action during a routine patrol when they observed a van driver using their device.

Subsequent investigation, by using the Mobility App, revealed the driver was found to be operating the van without displaying the required L-Plates and lacked any valid insurance coverage.

Upon the discovery of these violations, the unit confiscated the van.

A garda spokesperson has said that court is to follow for the driver.
