Father-of-five named as victim of car crash during Storm Isha

THE victim of a fatal road crash in county Mayo during Storm Isha has been named as father-of-five Jimmy Rowe. 

Mr Rowe died after his car veered off the N17 during powerful winds on Sunday. 

He was aged in his 40s and lived with his partner in Kilcloghans, outside Tuam in Co Galway, where he had been working for a number of years. 

It is understood he was travelling home after visiting family in Longford, where he was originally from, when the tragedy occurred near Claremorris.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, Galway County Councillor Donagh Mark Killilea described Mr Rowe’s passing a ‘a terrible tragedy’. 

The N17 at Lisduff has since reopened to traffic following the incident.
